Re: North Dallas
Not exactly; I'm about two hours away, in Lindale.
How possible would it be to have an event in the future in Tyler? Do we plan on having more locations when this project gets off the ground?
I realize that we're limited in the number of locations we can host at, just thought I'd ask.

Re: North Dallas
Right now I'm just seeing who is in the area. Once we get more people and a better idea of where everyone is, we can choose a location.

Re: North Dallas
I live out in deep east TX, but my parents live in North Dallas, in particular, The Colony. So, its not a bad trip for me at all.

I'm about three hours away, but then again I'm three hours away from everything in Texas, so there you go.
DFW area is alright with me.

Re: North Dallas
I'd probably be willing to make the drive once it's not so blisteringly hot out. Dallas is a three hour trip from here.

Re: North Dallas
In FACT, if someone lives in the Abilene or Stephenville or anywhere inbetween area, we could split gas, even.

Re: North Dallas
I would figure a mall somewhere would be a good place. Gonna have cybercafe type stuff, food courts, and I know many even have things like ice rinks.
I personally like Stonebriar up in Frisco, Shops at Willowbend in west plano, or maybe Collin Creek Mall over near US 75 and the George Bush TP in Plano.
Also, maybe Fry's in Plano? They have a nice cafe in the middle of the store.

Re: North Dallas
I'm now settled down in college, so I'd love to plan something in early-to-mid September. I can do Ft Worth / Dallas area and I have a friend from a college up in North Texas I'll probably be bringing along. Like I said before, if anyone in the area wants to carpool and pitch in for gas, it'd probably be easier.
Malls are good, movies are good, or if there's a good arcade-type place in Ft Worth / Dallas, that's probably our niche.

>Arcade-type place
Gameworks at the Grapevine Mills mall. They have lunch specials where for like $15 you get a meal and a 2 hour game card for their arcade. Its pretty damn sweet, and the mall itself also has a theater and such.

Re: North Dallas
I'd try to arrange something to drop in myself too. Weekend of the 18th is impossible, but anything other than that is pretty flexible. Depends a bit on the weather too, 110 degree heat would make the drive unbearable. Still, hoping to work something out at least.

Re: North Dallas
Well not to take all this on, but what about the weekend of the 11th? That gives all the college kids like me time to get situated in our new homes, as well as give the rest of us time to find more people to show up.
In addition, I think we should post pictures or explain in great detail what we'll be wearing, so we know who's who. I've done online meetups before, but never as a group, so it's different to some extent.
We'll probably also need rules and stuff, and if it's a mall we can eat at the food court... just saying.

Re: North Dallas
That does work, although Friday the 10th is better than the 11th for me, or any weekend after the 18th as I will be in Atlanta at that time.
If anyone is willing to be a text/IM point of contact, that would be greatly appreciated. Someone from the Dallas area who knows the meetup place in order to provide close range directions if need be.

Re: North Dallas
I (hopefully) could make it up that weekend (the 11th), and Saturdays would be the best for me. My parents live like 15 minutes up the road from Grapevine Mills, so I know that area pretty well. Fridays are kind of meh for me, because I have classes till noon, and Grapevine is like a 3.5-4 hour drive depending on traffic.

Re: North Dallas
Saturdays are also best for me because I'm driving from Abilene and I have classes till noon, plus I might be getting someone from the North Texas area and being able for her to spend the night before here or me spend the night there would be preferable, so Saturday is best.
